Getting Started....Objective: To find out where we are going on our fieldwork. What makes it an attractive destination for tourists?
Location Location Location Task 1 - Use the Google Map to the right hand side and find out about the site and situation of the settlement of Carcassonne. Task 2 - Save this photo into your My Pictures folder save it as Carcassonne1. See if you can find where the photo was taken from on Google Earth. Getting a feeling for the place - Use the Google Street View application below to navigate your way near the main entrance - Porte Narbonnaise. We will be starting out history tour here. Task 3 - Post your impressions of the photo on this ClassTools Post It application. You will need to use the photo you downloaded in task 2 as the background. You should use one word per text box and think of eight different descriptive words in total. |
Why Do People Go On Holiday?
Objective: To discover why people go on holiday and why tourism is an important resource to a country like France.
Did you know? - France is the most visited country in the whole world! No other country has more tourists than here. Task 4 - Watch the two videos to the right hand side. The first one shows what tourism used to be like in the 1950's in northern Europe. The second one shows the types of places where tourists go on holiday in 2024. i. What are the similarities? ii. What are the differences? Task 5 - With your teacher, create a spider diagram to show all the reasons that have led to tourists going further and doing more in the last 20 years. Think about technology and transport. Task 6 - Turn to page 104-105 in the Geog.3 textbook. Read over the text and study the diagrams before completing activities 1, 4 and 6. |

Grade 7 - Check out Microsoft Teams. You have been placed into a Team (Foodies, Goths or Horrors) where you can see the rest of your team. You can use this page to discuss jobs and share data, photos etc. after the trip has taken place. Mr Podbury & Ms Orchard are in each of the three Teams so we can keep an eye on how you are getting on.

The Task - Carcassonne Connection - Grade 8
This task will test not only your knowledge and understanding of Geography but also elements of IGCSE Business Studies and give you a sample of the sorts of tasks that you would be expected to do in a Business class with Ms Orchard.
