Grade 11 Mock Examination 2017
SL & HL students, there are two sections to the paper
* Section A - Populations in Transition x 2 questions (30 mins)
* Section B - Two Sport, Leisure & Tourism questions (1 hour 20 minutes)
Total 1 hr 50 mins
Section A - Populations in Transition - (30 mins)
Section A will have two questions on Populations in Transition and should take no more than 30 mins to complete, that's 15 minutes each.
Each question is split into an a,b,c format.
Question a is normally based on stimulus material and will ask you to interpret a graph or chart. Be very careful to read the command words carefully and study graphs to avoid silly mistakes. (2+2 marks)
Question b will normally then ask you to advance the theme explored in question 1. This will require case study knowledge. (2+2 marks)
Question c generally links in with another part of the unit and can be on anything but will be case study based. (up to 6 marks)
Section B - Sports, Leisure & Tourism (1 hour 20 minutes)
There are two questions here. Question 9 & Question 10. ANSWER THEM BOTH. The question tends to be split into three parts (a, b, c).
Question a. is often based on a stimulus such as a map or a chart and asks you to explain patterns or trends. Be careful with the key command terms and underline the key words. Otherwise, question a. will be a definitions question e.g. define 'sport'.
Question b. will often be a follow on from question a. that asks you to apply that process or idea to a case study or asks you something specific on a case study. It will point you to the case study.
Question c. is the 10 mark essay and will ask you something fairly specific on part of the course and that will be linked to a case study. This will be your second and final essay in this exam.
