During & After The Flood

Heavy rain flood event in the Gers departement of France. Heaviest flooding since 1977 and rivers full to the top of the levée protecting the town. These were built after a particularly damaging flood in the mid 1970's and constructed to a level that they never thought the river would get to. The second photo shows a rise of nearly 7 metres. It was no more than 20cm from over-topping the levée and flooding the town. A close call!
