Hollywood Hazards! - Could this come true?

Real Natural Hazards - Watch this and fill in this sheet to record as many hazards as you see.

Global Distribution of Natural Hazards
(Learner Profile Link - Reflective & Thinkers)

Picture
Introduce the topic to the students my asking a question. Find five words that link all of these images together. PowerPoint

Mapping the global hazard distribution.

There are four main types of Natural Hazards
1. Earthquakes
2. Volcanoes (Contributed by Nicole Longmore Y10)
3. Drought
4. Cyclones (Hurricanes and Typhoons)

Your task is to spatially map out four of each of the hazards above to create a revision tool to help you recognise the patterns of different hazard types. (See 2011 example below)

If you want to complete this task by hand, click here for the Microsoft Word template. You need to pay particular attention to the mark scheme to see where marks are allocated.

Otherwise, you can complete this task online by using the Classtools application created by Mr Tarr.

Here is a very basic example created by Mr Podbury (just to get you going)

Previous Example of good practice

Ask Mr Podbury to have a look at this piece of work, created by some Year 10 students in 2009.

Complete the illustration on page 109 on the A3 outline sheet provided as well as activities 1-3 fully in the spaces provided.

Just for fun. What is the hazard here?
