I received a really positive email from Julie Beattie at the Geographical Association today to say that we have achieved the SGQM (Secondary Geography Quality Mark) award as well as as becoming a Centre of Excellence for Geography teaching. The application was completed and submitted last May/June and took a long time to put together. It took a lot of looking back over SOW's, reading reports, studying student work, digging out testimonials (Twitter is great for this) and generally remembering what it is that we do on a day to day basis .... and all of that at the end of a long and tiring year. A great form of CPD and highly recommended if you are thinking about it. Of course, I have all the documentation here so if you need and advice or pointers, I'd be pleased to help out. Right then, back to the basics and another training session after lunch.
